Ich habe als Journalist angefangen. Damals ging es um Geschichten – um das, was Menschen tun, und um das, was sie verbergen. Irgendwann habe ich gemerkt: Manche Dinge lassen sich besser zeigen als erklären. Nicht, weil Worte zu schwach sind, sondern weil Bilder direkter sind.

Die Fotografie hat mich über einen Fotoessay erwischt. Seitdem suche ich nicht mehr nur nach Motiven, sondern nach Momenten, in denen ein Bild eine Spannung bekommt: ein Blick, eine Linie, ein Detail, ein Lichtwechsel. Ich habe an der Fachhochschule für Design in Dortmund gelernt, diese Sprache technisch sauber zu sprechen – und danach meinen eigenen Ton darin gefunden.

Ich arbeite bewusst und ruhig. Ich mag Kompositionen, die durchdacht sind, ohne geschniegelt zu wirken. Mich interessieren Räume, Körper, Strukturen und das Dazwischen

Roman Kasperski’s journey from journalism to photography was a pivotal chapter in his life. Born with a curious mind and an insatiable desire to capture the stories of the world, Kasperski’s transition from the written word to the visual world was a natural progression.

As a young, aspiring journalist, Kasperski honed his ability to seek out stories and present them in compelling ways. His innate ability to observe and interpret the nuances of human experience enabled him to paint vivid pictures with words. However, Kasperski first discovered his latent passion for photography during one of his assignments to document a photo essay.

Driven by his urge to explore new artistic paths, Kasperski decided to devote himself to the art of photography. He enrolled at the Fachhochschule für Design in Dortmund, where he honed his technical skills and developed a solid foundation in the traditional and contemporary aspects of photography. This formal education served as a starting point for his creative journey of discovery.

Kasperski’s work soon reflected his multifaceted approach. Drawing on his background in journalism, he approached his subjects with a strong sense of narrative, seeking to capture not just images but stories captured in time. His images have a unique depth, each unfolding a story that wants to be discovered.

A characteristic feature of Kasperski’s work was his deliberate and careful composition. His photographs were characterised by a precise interplay of objects, spatial arrangements and intricate details. Each shot looked well thought out and showed that he knew how to skilfully apply both theoretical knowledge and practical experience. This fusion of artistry and technical finesse distinguished his work in the world of photography.

As his portfolio expanded, so did his international recognition. Kasperski’s photographs were shown in numerous international exhibitions, demonstrating his ability to capture the essence of his subjects with a blend of sensitivity and authenticity. His work has been shown in renowned galleries and publications.
